In new teams, clicking on deep links within the MS Teams desktop app now redirects to the MS Teams browser app.

We have an app on MS Teams that has deep links to initiate a chat or place a call with the user. These links when accessed through the desktop version of MS Teams redirect to the browser app instead of opening it within the desktop app.
This works as expected with MS Teams Classic.

Hi @Neha Pingale - We tried to repro this issue by starting a chat & placing a call using deep link in New Teams and observed that the chat is getting opened within Desktop client itself, so does the call.

    Deep link Used:
    For Chat: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/chat/0/0?users=<user1>
    For Call: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/call/0/0?users=<user1>

    Thanks,

    Prasad Das

    Hi @Neha Pingale

It seems that the deep links in your MS Teams app are opening in the browser instead of the desktop app. This could be due to the settings in your Teams app.

    • Open the Teams app and click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
    • Select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.
    • In the “Files and links” tab, scroll down to the “File open preference” section.
    • Choose “Teams/Desktop app”.
