How to Remove Language Folders (cs, es, tr, etc.) and resources.dll Files from WPF Project Output in .NET 8?

Hello,

I’m developing a WPF application using .NET 8. In the bin output folder, several language-specific folders (cs, es, tr, etc.) are being generated along with .resources.dll files inside them, such as:

bin\Debug\net8.0\cs\Microsoft.CodeAnalysis.CSharp.resources.dll
bin\Debug\net8.0\cs\Microsoft.CodeAnalysis.Workspaces.resources.dll
bin\Debug\net8.0\es\Microsoft.CodeAnalysis.CSharp.resources.dll
bin\Debug\net8.0\es\Microsoft.CodeAnalysis.Workspaces.resources.dll

I don’t know where these files come from, and I don’t plan to use them in my project. I’d like to stop these files from being generated or remove them entirely.

• What is the source of these files?

• Is there a way to prevent them from being generated or remove them automatically?

I’m trying to keep unnecessary files out of my project output. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,@fatih uyanık. Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Cause:

When the project references the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.CodeGeneration.Design library, cs, es, tr and other files will be generated in its output directory.

Solution:

First delete this file, then click in the project and reference the following code

<SatelliteResourceLanguages>XXX</SatelliteResourceLanguages>

If you need to keep a certain file (for example, a cs file), you could replace XXX with cs. If you need to delete all files, you could randomly choose a non-existent file name, for example, XXX.

I didn't quite understand. Where do I need to write this code? Do I need to add all the cs, tr folders instead of xxx? Can you explain a little more?

If you want to delete all folders generated by Microsoft.VisualStudio.Web.CodeGeneration.Design, just add the following code(No other changes are required).

<SatelliteResourceLanguages>XXX</SatelliteResourceLanguages>
