Where do search ads get the business name?

In the Image Extension preview, some of the aspect ratios have a field that says [Ad] Business Name. We are a marketing agency, and we need to ensure the advertisers name appears here, not the marketing agency's name. From what field does Microsoft Advertising collect the Business Name? Is it from Tools >> Account Settings >> Account Name or Legal Business Name?

Hi GaryBrazzell, I hope you are doing well!I would be happy to assist you with your image extensions. I understand your need to make sure the correct business name is shown on your client's ads. I was able to find what you are referring to when creating an image extension. I’m doing a little more research to confirm where that will be pulled from to make sure I provide you with accurate information for your clients. I will follow up with you as soon as I have an update. You may also contact our US based support team here: Contact UsThank you, Tyler | Microsoft Advertising Support Specialist | 800-518-5689

Hi GaryBrazzell,  I hope you are doing well!Thank you for your patience. I was able to do a little more digging and found how the business name would be addressed in a situation where one of your expanded text ads are converted into an audience ad. We will see if the business name is listed someplace else in the account such as a different ad or a location extension. If we’re unable to find the business name listed, we just won’t use a business name. So, in relation to your agency, as long as each client is separated into a different account there would be no issue with them being mixed or using the agency name instead. You may also contact our US based support team here: Contact UsThank you, Tyler | Microsoft Advertising Support Specialist | 800-518-5689

"We will see if the business name is listed someplace else in the account such as a different ad or a location extension." -This is pretty much how all fields work, so I would say that's one safe statement, but not quite helpful with the question at hand.

I see business name as a field in the location extension at the campaign level. If I create a location extension, I am then assuming that would be the primary field from which the image extension would draw the business name. Gangly, but good enough. But then . . . .

You say "as long as each client is separated into a different account there would be no issue with them being mixed."

    • This implies without denoting that the image extension may draw the Business Name from the Account Name field from the account preferences menu. Does it or does it not?
    • This also implies without denoting that the image extension in one ad group may draw a Business Name from the Business Name field in a separate campaign under the same account. Will extensions draw data from separate campaigns in the same account or will they not? Will the image extension on one campaign gather the Business Name from a location extension in a separate campaign under the same account or will it not?

Thank you for letting me know which field or fields will be used to populate the Business Name area in the image extension.

Hi GaryBrazzell,   I hope you are doing well!I apologize for any confusion. This does not pull from the account name. Extensions and many settings can be set up at the account, campaign, or ad group level though. As such, it’s best to keep separate businesses in different accounts to avoid any accidental mixing. You may also contact our US based support team here: Contact UsThank you, Tyler | Microsoft Advertising Support Specialist | 800-518-5689

I've been a long way around with this question between Community, phone support, and chat over the past week or more. Let's summarize. The answer is:

"The image extension pulls business name from the location extension only."

    Correct?
