After uninstalling software, there are keys in the "Security Center" of the registry...

I can not delete these keys. I can not change the permissions for these keys. Other keys I can delete. When I choose to uninstall software, I should be allowed to delete ALL keys if I choose. Does anyone know how to delete such keys? This is just another example of Microsoft's arrogance... they know what the world needs and they are going to give it to us whether we like it or not. You need to listen to your customers!

    Hi Bat,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

The app needs to be programmed in that way so that it removes everything, including Registry contents. Some developers keep certain items like configurations in the Registry so that if you reinstall the Software later, the Settings are restored.

That said, editing items in the registry is not a good idea. I recommend leaving the keys as it is.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.

I have seen/read/heard all the rhetoric about not messing with the registry, but I am of the opinion that if keys are not needed they don't belong there. My question still stands... how can I delete those keys in the "Security Center"? Why did Microsoft make it different from the rest of the registry? I should be able to delete from there just as I can elsewhere in the registry.

Sure, I can guide you. Can you send me a screenshot of the path you see in the security center?

    Thank you.

If the normal deletion is not working, try taking ownership of the Registry key and then delete them.
