App to transfer files from local folder to a Teams folder.

Hi,

We are trying to upload large files (each file can run into multiple GBs) from our local drives to a Teams based SharePoint folder, but the upload process is not always reliable. The upload process appears to have completed, but when we try to refresh the destination folder to check on the files, the files never made it to the folder.

We tried different transfer options, including dragging and dropping the files into the Teams folder, opening the Teams folder as a SharePoint location in a browser and transferring files, and creating a shortcut to our OneDrive folder and using the Windows file explorer to transfer the files. But, the experience is similar with all these methods, the transfer is always a hit-or-miss process that is not reliable.

We are wondering if there is an easy way to transfer large files using an app, and would appreciate any help in pointing us to the right app that can be used for reliably transfer large files to a Teams folder.

Thank you!

    Hello Sundeep M,

    Good morning!

Thank you for publishing in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

It seems like you are facing challenges transferring large files from your local drives to a Teams-based SharePoint folder reliably. One way to achieve more consistent and reliable file transfers to Teams is by utilizing Microsoft's OneDrive application (sync file), which seamlessly integrates with Teams and SharePoint.

    1.
      - If you don't already have it, install the OneDrive application on your local machine.
      - Sign in to OneDrive using your Microsoft account associated with Teams.

    1. Sync Teams Folder:
        - In Teams, navigate to the SharePoint folder where you want to upload the files.
        - Click on the "Sync" button at the top to sync the folder with your local OneDrive.

    3. Transfer Large Files:
      - Copy the large files from your local drive and paste them into the synced folder on your local machine. This will initiate the upload process to SharePoint via OneDrive.

    1. Track the Upload:
        - Monitor the OneDrive application to track the progress of the file uploads. You should see the files syncing to the Teams folder in SharePoint.
    2. Verification:
        - Once the files have been uploaded, go back to Teams and check the SharePoint folder to ensure the files are visible and accessible.

By using OneDrive to sync and transfer files to your Teams-based SharePoint folder, you can benefit from a more reliable and integrated approach to file management.
