Stop synchronising OneDrive form computer communication misleading.

I need to stop synchronising Teams files on my computer (MacOS Ventura 13.2.1). Desired result is: files shall stay on OneDrive and be removed from computer. When I press stop sync on OneDrive settings, it pops message "Locally available files will remain on this device while online only files will be removed." I understand this message that files shall be removed from OneDrive and kept on computer (in opposite what I want to do). I have made a test, and actually the result is what I want, but in opposite what the message says. I find this message as misleading.

Greetings, Audrius! My name is Arif, and I will assist you today.

For better understanding, do you mean that the OneDrive files that sync to your computer should be removed from your computer but not from the OneDrive web?

If that's the case, please unlink or sign out of your OneDrive account from your computer. Then, try to remove one test file from your computer. Make sure that you're signed in to your OneDrive account on the web and check if the file is removed from your computer and OneDrive web. If the file is removed from your computer and the OneDrive web, it means that OneDrive is not fully unlinked or signed off from your computer. Make sure to fully unlink or sign off from OneDrive on your computer. If not, and if you remove the file from your computer, it will also be removed from the web. If not, it will only be removed from your computer.

for more information, please refer to the below article which is related to your issue:

    Warm Regards,

    Arif

Thank you for the replay @Arif AJ.

You understood correct what im intending to do.

But I see I need to explain more why I have posted this topic.

I have synchronised multiple Teams channels (projects in my case).

When I have complete one of projects, I want to remove it from my computer but leave it on OneDrive cloud server.

"Stop Sync" action gives me what I need, but the reason im writing this post is the message saying that files will remain on computer, but deleted from OneDrive cloud; it is on opposite what actually it does. Im reporting misleading message. Please correct me if im wrong.

    Dear Audrius,

Thank you so much for your reply!

Please unlink your OneDrive account from your computer and then try to delete the file or folder that you want to delete from your computer but not from the web.

    Warm Regards,

    Arif

With all respect, but I think you don’t understand what I’m trying to say.

I don’t want to unlink entire OneDrive account since I have to have other synchronized channels.
