Microsoft Clipchamp - Degradation in recording quality?

The quality of screen recordings has been poor for several days. It looks as if they are being recorded in a lower resolution. The video appears “pixelated.” The image is sharper in existing older recordings. According to some users it started somewhere around 07.22.2025. It is the same behaviour in app and web version of Clipchamp. There are no settings for recording quality. The quality is both worse in editing preview, as well when exporting the project. Doesn't matter if 1080p or 4k.

Has someone else expirienced this?

    Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about the issue.

We’re aware of a recent problem affecting screen recording quality in Microsoft Clipchamp, which appears to have started around July 22, 2025. Users have reported pixelated recordings, even when exporting at 1080p or 4K.

This issue affects both the app and web versions. Currently, Clipchamp does not have manual settings to adjust the recording resolution, and we understand how frustrating this can be.

Our team is actively investigating and working on a fix. We recommend keeping Clipchamp up to date and checking our support channels for updates.

We appreciate your patience, and we’re here if you have any other questions or need further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Marie

So, I found an old Clipchamp installation (4.2.10230.0 from May 20th 2025) and installed it on my Windows 10 PC and I now have proper recording quality...

However, I also tried the same on a Windows 11 PC without any effect. (I have verified that the old version is actually installed.)

So, for anyone still rocking Windows 10 out there... there is a fix! for us plebs on Windows 11, I guess we're in forced purgatory.
