MY QUESTION IS A SUGGESTION THAT DOES BELONG HERE
I fully understand that Microsoft wants to move to this new system, and I do not debate that at all. However, it is important to remember what we had before Q&A and that was Microsoft Community. I do not know how long it was in existence, but I know there were thousands, perhaps millions of questions asked and answered, hopefully.
Now we have moved to Q&A, however, the manner in which this has been done contains what I believe is a HUGE error and that is when you shut down Microsoft Community, I sincerely believe you should have left it up with a note as soon as it loads stating the system has changed, moved to Q&A but in light of all the valuable past information, the site is still available for users to scan and copy questions and answers. I have a partial listing of the questions and answers from myself, but there is much more I did not get a chance to copy to have for review at later dates and I am sure others who used this system or are aware of it would like the ability to go to it, scan their own material or that of others and be able to copy and paste it for later reference. I know some of the folks who provided answers to me were a huge help and would love to be able to go to their "location" within Microsoft Community and copy things they discussed or helped others with. So in essence what I am saying is put it all back up only no one would be able to ask a question for teh purpose of obtaining a NEW answer from anyone but we could ask a question and if the subject had been discussed previously, then we could copy and paste that info or we could also go in, log in or sign-in whatever you wish to call it and then search either for ourselves, others whose user names we know and pick and copy from them. Give us full access with the one HUGE exception of not being able to ask a new question and get any kind of response but could ask a question and if previous discussed, go to it and if suitable, copy and paste it for ourselves.
Would Microsoft PLEASE consider doing this for afterall, if there have been millions of questions, why put everyone through the process of having to ask again, wait on answers and force folks to answer again when all of those millions of questions and answers are there and could be used?
I sincerely hope Microsoft gives this full consideration and if this is a votable item, others would also agree that there is a vast amount of knowledge that at present, is being totally discarded when it could be left for review to save tons of time and effort.
