Campaign not spending

Hello,

I created a campaign 2 days a go, and one of its ads got approved after editorial review, but the campaign is still not spending. I don't see any setup issues, but the impressions for today are still at 0. Do the metrics take a while to show up, or maybe there's an issue with the setup?

    Hello Adnan Utayim,

Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Learn Q&A Platform!

I understand the urgency regarding your campaigns not receiving any traffic—such as impressions or clicks—especially since they were created two days ago, which is beyond the standard 24-hour system review period for newly launched campaigns and ads.

I appreciate you sharing the current status of your campaign, and the noticeable alert that I currently assess under the delivery column, is 'Limited: Bid strategy is still learning'. What this means: You have recently turned on or switched to a new automated bid strategy. It takes some time for our algorithms to gather enough performance data to learn how to bid most effectively.

How to fix it: This issue should resolve on its own once enough performance data has been collected. However, since the campaign is newly created and lacks sufficient historical data or performance benchmarks, I recommend switching your bid strategy to Enhanced CPC (eCPC). This can help initiate traffic and improve performance while the system gathers the necessary data for optimization.

Enhanced CPC (Cost-Per-Click) is an automated bidding strategy that still allows you to maintain full control over your ad group and keyword bids. With this strategy, you manually set your bids, and Microsoft Advertising automatically adjusts them in real time to help maximize your chances of conversion. Bids may be increased for searches more likely to convert and decreased for those less likely—these adjustments occur after any bid modifiers you've applied.

Over time, Microsoft Advertising aims to ensure that your average CPC does not exceed your original bid. If your campaign hasn’t been fully optimized yet, Enhanced CPC can help lower your cost per conversion and increase total conversions, all while staying within your existing budget.

Unlike other automated strategies such as Maximize Clicks, Maximize Conversions, or Target CPA, Enhanced CPC does not alter your stored ad group or keyword bids. You can continue updating your bids manually, and the system will use those new values as a baseline for future optimizations. This also means that the performance data gathered while using Enhanced CPC can serve as a valuable foundation if you decide to switch back to strategies like Auto-Maximize Clicks later on. When you switch for this bid strategy, let your ads run on a certain time frame like a week or so for the system to have enough data to base on optimizing your campaign.
