Hello,
Thank you for posting question on Microsoft Windows Forum.
Based on your query of how to log in to a Windows 11 laptop with the FIDO2 USB key.
Well! To register a FIDO2/“Security key” in Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options or in your Microsoft account’s Security Info which lets you use the key for your account (web/apps and Microsoft sign-ins). To use the physical key to unlock the Windows sign-in / lock screen you might need an extra Windows-side support enabled like Windows Hello / FIDO2 device logon / Entra/Azure AD or a policy.
- For more information Sign in to your account with a security key - Microsoft Support Steps to register a key from the device for your reference.
- Plug your FIDO2 USB key into your laptop.
- Navigate to this path Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options → Security Key → Manage
- A Windows Security dialog will pop up. You may be prompted to touch the flashing button on your USB key.
- You will be prompted to create a PIN.
- You will be prompted to touch the key again to confirm its presence.
- Name your key.
