Hello,

I am having trouble typing into OneNote and Word as well. I am using these apps for University and for example in One note I cannot type at all. Maybe just a few letters and then just stops and selects random icons on the page. It is the same for Word.

To give more details, I have a MacBook Air 13 M3 Sonoma 14, if it helps.

What should I do in this situation?
Thank you!

    Hi @Maria-Silvia Vija

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand it can be confusing when Word and OneNote don’t respond as expected while you’re typing on your Mac.

Here are a few steps you might want to try to see if they help resolve the issue:

1.Turn off Mouse Keys and Full Keyboard Access.

You can refer to these articles for more details:

Control the pointer using Mouse Keys on Mac - Apple Support

Navigate your Mac using Full Keyboard Access - Apple Support

2.Restart your Mac in Safe Mode, then open Word and OneNote.

You can refer to this article for more information: How to use a "clean startup" to determine whether background programs are interfering with Office for Mac

3.Reinstall the Word and OneNote apps.

You can follow these articles to reinstall:

Uninstall Office for Mac - Microsoft Support

Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac - Microsoft Support

If the issue still persists, please share a few more details so I can better understand your situation and provide more accurate guidance:

-Does the issue also occur when using Word or OneNote on the web?

-Which version of Word and OneNote are you currently using?

-Did you recently update Office to a new version? If yes, did the issue start before or after the update?

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I look forward to your update.
