I am not able to add folders/Office files to a specific Teams in the OneDrive section of the desktop Teams app, just videos. However, I can add them within the Teams menu under Files. I am the owner of the Team, so I have full permissions, just not sure why some folders in the Team would block me from adding files/folders in the OneDrive module.

    Hi @Wozniakm,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

It seems you're encountering a specific issue with uploading files and folders through the OneDrive tab in Teams, which can be a bit confusing due to how Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint interact.

To help me better understand the situation and assist you effectively, could you please share a bit more detail on the following: Could you please share a screenshot of error message that you're seeing?

This will help us better understand the context and provide more targeted support. Any additional information will help us better understand and support you.

In the meantime, you can refer to some recommendations to troubleshoot:

    1. Try uploading via SharePoint directly
    • Open the Team's SharePoint site and try uploading the folders/files there. This bypasses some of the limitations of the OneDrive module in Teams.
    1. Check Library Settings in SharePoint

    If you have admin access:

    • Go to Library Settings, click Versioning Settings.
    • Scroll to Draft Item Security > set it to Any user who can read items. This ensures that draft versions of documents are visible to all users with read access.
    • At the section labeled Require Check Out > Require documents to be checked out before they can be edited?
    • Select No, then click OK.

    1. If you need to share from OneDrive:
    • Upload the file to OneDrive first.
    • Use Share link in Teams chat or channel.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

    Hi @Wozniakm,

    Thank you for your update.

Based on the details you've shared, here are some additional suggestions that might help address your issue:

    1. Check OneDrive permissions in Teams
    • If you're trying to add files/folders to the OneDrive section of Teams and you're facing limitations (like being able to only add videos), it's possible that there are permission issues related to your OneDrive or the integration with Teams.
    • Action: Check if you have the necessary permissions in your OneDrive for Business account and Teams. Since you mentioned that you're the owner of the Team, this shouldn’t be the issue, but there could be additional restrictions from your IT department.
    1. Permissions issues (IT restrictions)
    • You mentioned that your university’s IT department manages many of the SharePoint settings, which likely means certain restrictions are in place that could be affecting how OneDrive functions within Teams. These limitations might involve permissions or content type settings that control how files and folders appear or behave in the OneDrive tab.
    • There may also be restrictions related to syncing or uploading content from OneDrive to Teams. Since these configurations are often managed at the administrative level, it’s a good idea to check with your IT department to see if any specific policies or settings are impacting the integration between OneDrive and Teams.
    1. Other troubleshooting steps

    Clear Teams cache:

    For Windows:

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar, and then select Quit.
    • Pressing Windows+R to open the Run dialog box.
    • In the Run dialog box, enter the following path, and then select OK.

    %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams

    • Delete all files and folders in the directory.
    • Restart Teams.

    For macOS:

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit or press Command+Q.
    • In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
    • Enter the following commands, and press Return after each command:

    rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams

    rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2

    • Restart Teams.

    Teams version:

    • Click three dots in the top-right corner > Settings > About Teams to make sure your Teams desktop app is fully updated to the latest version.
    1. Contact your IT admin
    • If none of the previous solutions work, it may be best to contact your IT department. They might need to adjust backend settings or investigate permission-related issues affecting Teams, OneDrive, or SharePoint.

    Hi @Wozniakm,

    Thank you for your response.
