I understand that you are having issue with saving an Excel file to .xlsx. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.
For me to give the most relevant solution, could you please provide some information about the situation you are experiencing:
- Where is the file stored?
- OneDrive, SharePoint, local device, or opened from an email?
- What is the current file format?
- Is it already .xlsx, or something else like .xls, .csv, or .pdf?
- Are you using AutoSave?
- Is the AutoSave toggle turned on in the app?
- Which Excel version are you on?
- Can you confirm the app version from Google Play (latest update)?
- What exactly do you see when you try to save?
- Is “Save a Copy” available, or is the option completely missing?
In the meantime, you could try these basic steps to try fix the issue:
- Check the menu path: Go to File → Save a Copy → This Device or OneDrive, then choose Excel Workbook (.xlsx).
- Disable AutoSave: Turn off AutoSave (top bar toggle) to unlock more save options.
- Convert the file: If the file is in another format, use File → Save a Copy → Excel Workbook (.xlsx).
- Update Excel app: Ensure you have the latest version
