Hi @Robert Treadway
Thank you so much for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum.
Based on the details you shared, I understand that:
- You're experiencing a “Sync Error” in OneNote.
- You’ve already upgraded your personal storage, restarted your MacBook, and signed in/out of OneNote.
- Despite these steps, the issue persists.
From what I’ve researched, this issue often occurs in educational Microsoft 365 accounts when the overall storage quota for the entire institution (Microsoft 365 tenant) has been exceeded. Even if your personal storage is available, the central storage pool shared across the organization (OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange, etc.) might be full.
Since this is an education account managed by your school, only your IT administrator or Help Desk can access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center to:
- Check the organization’s overall storage usage
- Free up space by removing inactive mailboxes
- Delete unused files or data
- Or increase the tenant’s storage quota if needed
You may want to share this official Microsoft documentation with your IT team for reference: Pooled storage management
