My slideshow in personalization quit working after update of 10/15/2025. I can't seem to fix it

After update on 10/14/2025 KB5066835 (OS Builds 26200.6899 and 26100.6899), my slideshow through personalize from the desktop won't work. When I try to set my background from picture to slideshow, it just pops right back up to picture. The other two options (solid color and windows spotlight) work just fine. I'm just unable to select slideshow. I have gone through a number of steps via Co-pilot even getting into PowerShell and Registry checks. Nothing is helping me. Is there anyone that can? Thanks.

    Dear Jan Abernathy,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Since you know exactly which update caused the problem, the most definitive test is to remove it.

    1. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history.
    2. Scroll to the bottom and click "Uninstall updates".
    3. Find KB5066835 in the list, click it, and select "Uninstall".
    4. The process will take some time, and your PC will restart.
    5. Once it's back up, check if the slideshow feature works.

Please let me know if this solution could help or if you need further assistant.

Firstly, the steps you gave me were different from what my journey through the various options actually was, however, I did finally find windows update history and I even found the update in question (thanks for the number). There was no way to "select" the update I want to dismiss. When I did go to removing updates, that number was not an option. There were only two. I'm afraid I may have waited too long to work on this and now it's too late to remove that update. Sorry, I had some health issues to arise and this problem did not take priority. Suggestions?
