How is there no Lasso Tool shortcut on MacOS?

I understand that Office products on MacOS have a reduced feature set, but it's absolutely insane to me that the Lasso tool can't be bound to my Wacom pen because there is no keyboard shortcut for it. The Lasso is a critical part of drawing and writing notes with pen tablets, similarly to panning (which I also can't bind but it's okay since Wacom has a native option that translates it to scrolling), so what's going on here? How do I suggest this feature? The settings menu is so crude on MacOS that I couldn't find anthing remotely related to binding pen buttons either, even though it's an application made to work with pen tablets..

Is there any alternative solution to this for now?

Because Wacom is not managed by Microsoft, the troubleshooting steps and documentation I've found are based on my own research.

    Hi @Miguel Peres

Thank you so much for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Based on the information you provided, I understand you're frustrated that you can't bind the Lasso tool to your Wacom pen button in Office apps on macOS.

First, I need to let you know that I'm a moderator, and I don't have specialized developer tools. However, I'll do my best to help you by finding relevant documentation and workarounds.

There doesn't appear to be a default keyboard shortcut for the 'Lasso Select' tool in OneNote for macOS. However, I have a workaround you can try. We can use a built-in macOS feature to create our own shortcut, and then you can assign that new shortcut to your Wacom pen.

    Here are the steps:

Step 1: Create a Custom Shortcut in macOS

    1. Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts...
    2. Select App Shortcuts from the left menu.
    3. Click the plus icon (+).
    4. For Application, choose Microsoft OneNote (or the specific Office app you use).
    5. For Menu Title, you must type the exact command name. For OneNote, this is: Lasso Select
    6. For Keyboard Shortcut, assign a unique key combination, for example: Option + Command + L (⌥⌘L).

Step 2: Assign the New Shortcut in Wacom Properties

In my test environment, this method works correctly for creating the shortcut, and the keyboard shortcut (⌥⌘L) successfully activates the Lasso tool with my mouse. However, due to my test limitations, I don't have the same device to give specific instructions for the shortcut.

However, if that still doesn't work, the best workaround I've found is to use the keyboard shortcut on your Mac and then begin using the lasso tool on your Wacom tablet.

Please try assigning the new key combination you created to your Wacom pen and see if it works.
