Azure Virtual Desktop - Session host - Health - Upgrade Failed

Currently, all session hosts in one of our host pools show health status of “Upgrade failed.” We tried restarting and performing a stop/start operation on one of the session hosts, but the status remains “Upgrade failed.”

The session host is running the latest agent version (1.0.12684.400), so we’re not sure why this issue persists. After a restart or stop/start, the health status briefly changes to “Available” for a few minutes, but then reverts to “Upgrade failed.”

We checked the VM activity logs and did not find any failures or errors. Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

    Hello @Nazeer, Shalomon ,

Based on the issue description, this seems to be related to AVD agent issues but to find what exactly is the issue with the AVD agent we'd need your help to share the logs with us for it.

    What logs to share:
Login to the Session Host (Virtual machines (VMs)) -> Head over to Event Viewer -> Windows Logs > Application

Look for events that have one of the following sources to identify your issue:

    • WVD-Agent
    • WVD-Agent-Updater
    • RDAgentBootLoader
    • MsiInstaller

Based on the error we can help out to find out what's going wrong with the AVD agent.

Also do verify that all the endpoints listed out here are not blocked by your networking configuration : https://v4.hkg1.meaqua.org/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/required-fqdn-endpoint?tabs=azure#session-host-virtual-machines
