If you've forgotten both your login and administrator passwords on Windows Vista, you can utilize the System Restore feature to regain access. Here’s how to do it:
- Insert the Windows Vista DVD into your computer and restart it.
- When prompted, press any key to boot from the DVD.
- Set your preferences for language, time, and keyboard input, then click Next.
- Select Repair your computer, choose the operating system you want to repair, and click Next.
- Click on System Restore and then Next.
- Choose a restore point where you were able to log in successfully and click Next.
- Confirm the disks you want to restore and click Next.
- Click Finish and confirm the prompt to start the restoration process.
- Once the process is complete, restart your computer.
- You should now be able to log in using the previous password or create a new administrator account if needed.
After regaining access, consider setting a new password to prevent future issues.
