Why does any document not finish loading so I can edit or work on it from One Drive?

When I try to load documents it will load it, but I can't edit or do anything to it because a prompt pops up that says "Please wait... we're still loading the document" but it NEVER finishes or does anything. I have tried different computers, different browsers, restarts, resets and nothing else happens?? This started a little over a week ago. Please help!

The issue you're experiencing with documents not finishing loading in OneDrive could be due to several factors. Here are some potential causes and solutions:

    1. Network Issues: Ensure that your internet connection is stable. A slow or intermittent connection can cause documents to hang while loading.
    2. Browser Compatibility: Sometimes, certain browsers may have compatibility issues with OneDrive. Make sure you are using a supported browser and that it is up to date. You might also try clearing your browser's cache and cookies.
    3. Office Updates: Ensure that your Office applications are fully updated. Outdated software can sometimes lead to performance issues.
    4. Document Cache: Clearing the Office Document Cache may help resolve loading issues. You can find instructions on how to do this in the Microsoft support documentation.
    5. File Size and Type: Large files or unsupported file types may take longer to load or may not load properly. Check the size of the document and ensure it is a compatible format.
    6. Try Office Online: If the desktop application is not working, you can try opening the document using Office Online as a temporary workaround.

If none of these solutions work, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Hi,

Sorry you’re dealing with this. If your documents aren’t loading in OneDrive, here are some other things you can try.

First, check your network. Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi or use your phone’s hotspot. Sometimes your internet is the real problem. Turn off any VPNs or proxies you’re using. To double-check, hit the Windows key + R, type "inetcpl.cpl," go to Connections, then LAN settings, and make sure you don’t have a proxy turned on. Your antivirus or firewall might also be blocking OneDrive or Office online, pause it for a minute and see if that helps.

Next, look at the file itself. Weird file names or special characters can mess things up, so rename the file if you see anything odd. You can also download the file, give it a new name, and upload it again. If someone shared the file with you, ask them to remove your access and send a new link. And don’t forget to check your OneDrive storage, if you’re out of space, nothing’s going to work right. You can check your storage on the OneDrive website.

Hope that this helps. Let me know if you have any questions, Just leave a comment below.

    Thank you,
