I use to be able to hover over the date and time and the calendar would pop up.

Now it does not and I cannot find out how to turn it back on. I see where someone had the same issue and instructions were posted to fix this in the Microsoft community, but they do not work. The instructions basically told users to go to the taskbar. But maybe the instructions were for a previous or different version of Microsoft because they are not current taskbar setting options and therefore do not resolve the issue.

If the calendar is not popping up when you hover over the date and time in Windows 11, it may be due to the Notifications and Action Center being disabled. The calendar feature is part of this center, and if it is turned off, the calendar will not function as expected.

To check if the Notifications and Action Center is disabled, you can follow these steps:

    1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
    2. Navigate to one of these paths:
      • User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
      • Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
    3. Look for the Remove Notifications and Action Center policy.
    4. Double-click the policy to open its properties. If it is set to Enabled, the Notifications and Action Center is disabled, which will prevent the calendar from popping up.

Additionally, if you are using an external monitor, ensure that the display settings are configured correctly. The calendar will only pop up on the primary monitor if you have set it to extend displays.

If these settings do not resolve the issue, it may be worth checking for any updates or changes in the Windows settings that could affect the taskbar functionality.

Hi LDR, Thanks for reaching out. It’s handy when the calendar pops up with just a hover. The reason it’s not working now is that recent Windows updates changed how the taskbar clock behaves, and hovering no longer triggers the calendar. It now requires a click instead. There isn’t a setting to turn hover back on because that feature was removed.

Can you confirm which version of Windows you’re on? If you’re on 11, you can still click the date and time to open the calendar, and if it’s not showing, we can check if the taskbar settings or system files need a quick refresh.

    Regards,

    Rez
