I was searching for an answer via Google and got to this MS site. I was not logged in. I was thinking the question I was looking at was closed to comments, but it didn't say so. I wondered if it would say that when I logged in, so I did, and I then could see this message: "Locked Question. This question was migrated from the Microsoft Support Community. You can vote on whether it's helpful, but you can't add comments or replies or follow the question." What should happen is the Open/Closed status should be indicated despite the login status of the user. There's no reason to require a person be logged in to see that. NOTE: There were no reply links before I logged in. That could also indicate it was locked, but two things on that - 1) Why not just say it? and 2) Some sites stupidly won't give a Reply link until you are logged in (instead of doing it the right way, which would be to always have a Reply link on open questions, but just sending the person to a login form before sending them to the reply form). Bottom line: Signed in or not, show the open/closed status of the question at all times.
