    Hi Shawn Lipsit

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

Have a good day and I hope you're doing well!

I totally understand how frustrating that can be when you just need a straightforward quote. Based on my research, SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (SPSE) is purchased through Microsoft Volume Licensing and authorized Microsoft partners, rather than directly from the Microsoft Store.

SPSE receives its use rights through Software Assurance (SA) under the Volume Licensing program. Microsoft will work with a Microsoft Partner/LSP to purchase or renew SA; Microsoft records this entitlement in VLSC. When SA is active, you can deploy SPSE immediately.

Find a Microsoft Partner in your region for pricing and purchasing details: Find a Microsoft partner

Based on my research, here’s what I found so it’s clear what to expect:

    • SPSE uses the Server + CAL model (per user or per device), same as prior on‑prem versions: SharePoint Server licensing guidance
    • Rights to run SPSE are tied to active Software Assurance (SA) / subscription entitlements, perpetual licenses for SPSE aren’t offered. If SA lapses, the right to use SPSE ends (with fallback to 2019 per terms): Microsoft Product Terms—SPSE and clarification from Microsoft product team: SPSE licensing explanation
    • Heads‑up: Microsoft announced on‑premises server price updates in July/August 2025 (standalone server + CAL suites). Actual quotes vary by agreement, but this helps explain current price levels: Licensing and pricing updates (July 2025)

I hope the information provided is of some assistance. Should you have any concerns or require clarification, or if I have misinterpreted any details, please feel free to reach out.
