As such, I havent been able to get my email set up in outlook. I have since set up an outlook email addess for my microsoft 365 subscription and deleted my personal email from the account. Nevertheless still cannot email set up in outlook. Now it is shows the email address three times in left column under accounts but when i go into account setup there is no account for the email address. therefore no way to delete those three sittting there and no way to set it up.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with multiple accounts and aliases in Outlook due to conflicts between your personal email and your Microsoft 365 account. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Remove Duplicate Accounts: If your personal email is still showing multiple times in Outlook, you may need to remove these duplicates. You can do this by going to the account settings in Outlook. If the accounts are not visible there, you may need to reset Outlook's profile.
    2. Create a New Outlook Profile: Sometimes, creating a new Outlook profile can help resolve issues with existing accounts. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles, and then adding a new profile. After creating it, set it as the default profile.
    3. Use a Different Alias: If the email address is still causing conflicts, consider creating a new alias for your Microsoft 365 account that does not conflict with your personal email. You can do this in the Exchange admin center by adding a new alias that uses the .onmicrosoft.com domain.
    4. Check for Autodiscover Issues: If you're unable to set up your email, it might be related to Autodiscover settings. Ensure that your Microsoft 365 account is configured correctly and that Autodiscover is functioning properly.
    5. Update Outlook: Make sure that you are using the latest version of Outlook. Sometimes, issues can arise from using outdated software.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consult the Microsoft Community for further assistance.

    Hello JD,

Thank you for posting your question to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand how confusing it is to see your email folders duplicated three times in the list, and I know it is unsettling when those folders don't appear in your Account Settings where they should be.

Since the folders are visible in the main view but missing from the settings, this behavior confirms that your Outlook Profile has unfortunately become corrupted. Essentially, Outlook is attempting to display "ghost" data files that are no longer properly connected to a working account.

However, there is a clean solution to resolve this issue. The best fix is to bypass the compromised profile entirely and create a fresh one. This will allow you to start with a stable configuration and eliminate the display errors.

Below are the steps to set up your new profile:

    1. Open Classic Mail Settings

    • Close Outlook completely.
    • Press the Windows Key and type "Control Panel". Open it.
    • Click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook). (If you can't see it, change the "View by" on the top right corner to: Small icons)

    2. Create a Fresh Profile Since the current profile has "ghost" accounts that can't be deleted, we will simply make a new one.

    • Click Show Profiles... > Add....
    • Name the new profile something simple (like "Outlook2025") and click OK.
    • Enter your Name, Email Address, and Password in the setup window.
    • Note: If the automatic setup fails, try selecting "Manual setup" to enter your IMAP/Exchange details directly. Once you see three green checkmarks, click Finish.

    3. Switch to the New Profile Now we must tell Outlook to use this clean version instead of the old broken one.

    • Back in the "Mail" window, look at the bottom section: "When starting Microsoft Outlook, use this profile:".
    • Change the dropdown selection to "Outlook2025".
    • Click Apply and OK.

    4. Launch Outlook

    • Open Outlook normally.
    • Result: It will now open as if it is brand new. The three "ghost" accounts will be gone, and your email should start syncing correctly!

I hope this fresh start resolves the duplication issue for you. Please let us know if you run into any trouble during the setup.
