After my PC was updated with windows 11 my documents and downloads are now missing under "This PC." I don't seem to have a C drive anymore. All I can see is quick access documents and pictures and the folders on my desktop. And one of the desktop folders was completely gone.

Your description of the problem indicates it is just the View in File Explorer that may be corrupted.

Open File Explorer, then on the top menu, click the 3 dots and select Options.

On the resulting utility, on the General tab, click 'Restore Defaults'.

Select the View tab on that utility, then click the Reset Folders button and the Restore Defaults button.

Apply those settings, then close and re-open File Explorer to test of that resolves the problem.

If not, in the left pane in File Explorer, right click an empty spot, on the resulting menu are a few view options, try toggling each one on/off to test if you can restore the correct view in that navigation pane.

It sounds like you might be experiencing issues related to the upgrade process to Windows 11. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially recover your missing files and drives:

    1. Check Hidden Items: Sometimes, folders may be hidden. In File Explorer, go to the "View" menu and ensure that "Hidden items" is checked.
    2. Use the Search Function: Try using the search bar in File Explorer to look for your documents and downloads. You can also search for specific file names if you remember them.
    3. Check for User Profiles: If multiple user accounts are set up on your PC, ensure you are logged into the correct account. Your files may be under a different user profile.
    4. Accessing C Drive: If the C drive is not visible, it might be a partition issue. You can check this by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Disk Management". Look for your C drive there and see if it is listed.
    5. Restore Missing Files: If you suspect that files are lost, you can try using the Windows Backup feature or check if you have any restore points set up prior to the upgrade. This can help recover lost files.
    6. Check Recycle Bin: Sometimes files may accidentally be deleted. Check the Recycle Bin to see if your missing folders are there.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider using recovery software or restoring your system to a previous state if you have a backup available.
