Hello:

I am fairly sure this is not the intended place for such a question but it's the only way I have found to get even close to a dialogue with another human being. So if you can offer any help I beg of you to do so.

I haven't played minecraft in several years and I am attempting to install it now. The installation fails immediately and shows this error:

I don't understand why it says this and none of the options are any help at all. I bought the game over a decade ago and am simply trying to install it on my new PC. This is very frustrating but the experience I have had trying to get support as been absolutely abysmal. If you have any clue what is going on here, or what I need to do, please tell me.

Hi there! My name is David. It’s a pleasure to help you today.

Thank you for sharing your issue. Based on what you included in the screenshot, it is possible that the account you are using to install the game does not have the license associated with it.

Are you trying to install the game with a Mojang account?

What may have happened is that the Mojang account you used to purchase the game more than 10 years ago needed to be migrated to a Microsoft account in order to allow you to install the game. According to the information I found, the deadline to complete the migration was September 19, 2023. If the migration was not done before that date, it is no longer possible to complete it.

Did you migrate your Mojang account to a Microsoft account?

Let me know if the shared information has been helpful. Regards.
