I have one laptop, two MS accounts. We have an issue when we toggle between accounts.

I purchased a Dell laptop, and it was to have the MS Family 365 Plan. It didn't.

I end up with two 1 person MS 365 Plans or two MS accounts. The issue I'm now having is that we are unable to toggle back and forth on the one laptop without having to restart the computer.

Best Buy recently installed a Family Plan under my account and suggested we contact MS to cancel the MS Personal Plan recently installed by Dell. Will this solve the issue with signing out of my account and then allowing my wife to sign into her account without having to restart the computer?

Does MS have a HELP line for Seniors that we could call to speak with a Human for assistance?

To address your issue with toggling between two Microsoft accounts on a single laptop, it is possible that having two separate Microsoft 365 plans (one Personal and one Family) is causing conflicts. If you cancel the Personal Plan and solely use the Family Plan, it may help streamline the sign-in process and reduce the need to restart your computer each time you switch accounts. However, it's best to confirm this with Microsoft support to ensure that this action will resolve your specific issue.

Regarding assistance for seniors, Microsoft does provide support options, but there is no specific mention of a dedicated helpline for seniors in the context provided. You can contact Microsoft 365 Support for help with your account issues. They can assist you in navigating your account settings and resolving any conflicts between the plans.

    Hi George L Pink II,

Thanks for sharing your situation on Microsoft Q&A.

According to your account situation, your PCs, which have linked with two licenses have been restarted whenever you open it. Hence, you would like to cancel one of the licenses as retailer has told you.

I suspect this situation has been caused by account and license conflicts. You can consider trying these troubleshoots first before trying to cancel one of the licenses:

    A. Resolve Account & License Conflicts

    • Clear Cloud Sync Data
    • Refresh Subscription Status
    • Remove Old License (not cancel)
      • If you switched plans, uninstall Office tied to the old subscription via Control Panel > Programs and Features, then reinstall using the correct account.

    B. Disable Automatic Restart

    • Navigate to System > Advanced system settings > Startup and Recovery > Settings.
    • Uncheck Automatically restart. This helps diagnose if crashes are causing reboots.

    C. Update & Repair

    • Run Windows Update and Office Update.
    • Use sfc /scannow and DISM commands in Command Prompt to repair system files.

    D. Hardware & Power Checks

    • Ensure proper cooling and clean dust from fans.
    • Test RAM and PSU if random restarts persist.

In case the issues still remain unchanged, you can keep the option cancelling the personal subscription and contact support for further help.

Please let me know your checking, so that I can help with the guidance to help you reach out to Microsoft Support via live chat.

    Thanks, and sincerely,
