Hey, before i was using windows 11, and after some update my laptop got DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, after that i tried to downgrade the windows with media creation windows 10 from windows website, but it kept showing that BSOD error, i tried to analyze the minidump with analyzer online, it said this:

Crash Location

Module: ntoskrnl.exe

Address: 0xfffff80180bfd6f0 (+0x3fd6f0)

Summary

The system crashed due to a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, indicating that a Deferred Procedure Call (DPC) routine took too long to complete.

Probable Cause

Culprit: ntoskrnl.exe

A DPC routine, likely associated with a specific driver, exceeded the allowed time limit, causing the system to halt to prevent further instability. The exact driver is not explicitly identified in the provided data, but the nature of DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION often points to issues with device drivers or hardware that are not responding promptly.

Recommendations

  • Update all device drivers, especially those related to hardware that has recently been changed or updated.
  • Check for and install any available Windows updates, as these often include driver updates and stability fixes.
  • If the issue persists, consider performing a clean boot to isolate the problematic driver or service.
  • Monitor system temperatures and ensure proper cooling, as overheating can sometimes lead to DPC issues.
  • If a specific third-party driver is suspected, consider temporarily disabling or uninstalling it to test for stability.
  • Update SSD firmware
  • Change SATA mode in BIOS (AHCI/IDE)
  • Update storage controller drivers
  • Disable USB selective suspend
  • Check for driver updates via Device Manager

To fix the BSOD DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (Stop Code 0x00000133), you can follow these steps:

    1. Update Device Drivers: Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially those related to hardware that has recently been changed or updated. You can do this through Device Manager.
    2. Check for Windows Updates: Install any available Windows updates, as these often include important driver updates and stability fixes.
    3. Perform a Clean Boot: This can help isolate the problematic driver or service. To do this, you can disable all non-Microsoft services and startup programs and then restart your computer.
    4. Monitor System Temperatures: Overheating can sometimes lead to DPC issues. Ensure your laptop is properly cooled and not overheating.
    5. Update SSD Firmware: If you're using an SSD, check if there's a firmware update available from the manufacturer.
    6. Change SATA Mode in BIOS: Switch between AHCI and IDE modes in your BIOS settings to see if it resolves the issue.
    7. Disable USB Selective Suspend: This feature can sometimes cause issues with USB devices. You can disable it in the Power Options settings.
    8. Check Event Viewer: Look for any critical errors in the Event Viewer that occurred around the time of the BSOD. This can provide clues about the underlying issue.
    9. Run Hardware Diagnostics: If the problem persists, run any hardware diagnostics provided by your laptop manufacturer to check for hardware issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider reverting to a previous version of Windows or further isolating the hardware causing the problem.
