Autopilot device deregistration

To deregister a device from Windows Autopilot, follow these general steps:

1. Delete from Intune: Before you can deregister a device from Windows Autopilot, you must first delete it from Intune. Sign into the Microsoft Intune admin center, navigate to Devices, and find the device you want to delete. Make a note of its serial number, then select Delete and confirm the deletion.
2. Deregister from Windows Autopilot: After the device has been deleted from Intune, you can deregister it from Windows Autopilot. In the Intune admin center, go to Devices > Windows > Windows enrollment > Windows Autopilot > Devices. Select the device and choose the option to delete it.
3. Confirmation: Confirm the deletion when prompted. The deregistration process may take some time, and you can refresh the page to check if the device has been removed.
4. For Microsoft Entra hybrid join devices: Ensure to delete the computer object from the on-premises Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) environment to prevent it from being resynced back to Microsoft Entra ID.

Following these steps ensures that the device is properly deregistered from both Intune and Windows Autopilot, avoiding potential issues with orphaned devices.
