Outlook (New) will not start on my desktop (windows 11 - latest update). Any ideas?

I have tried uninstall and reinstall without success (both outlook & edge). It seems stuck on dependency for WebView2, which doesn't seem to have installed properly. I have tried options from copilot, but no joy.

reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\Clients" /s | findstr WebView2

just returns

et-Service : Cannot find any service with service name 'edgeupdate'.

I have tried reinstalling, repair, reset of edge without any luck. Nothing changes.

I have tried a manual install of webview2 as administrator, but this just doesn't seem to run (no output logs are seen).

Is this something others are seeing or is my webview2 install corrupted and if yes, how can I fix it.

I have also disabled firewalls, protection etc from Norton, but still have issues with Outlook. It prompts me to install the latest version webview2 when I start Outlook (new), and I say yes. But this end sin a loop. It fails to install and asks again.

Is there anyway to completely remove webview2 and deregister it and then do a complete install. I have ytried this myself without success.

Hi Patrick Dineen, I know how frustrating it is when Outlook refuses to start and keeps looping on WebView2 especially after you’ve already tried reinstalling and tweaking settings.

To get Outlook New working again start by removing WebView2 completely including its folders and registry entries then reinstall the Evergreen WebView2 Runtime as an administrator. If the Edge Update service is missing repair it using the Edge installer and restart your PC. Next clear Outlook cache and reinstall it. update all components with winget upgrade all and if it still doesnt launch create a new user profile and run system repair commands like SFC and DISM.

When you check Apps & Features do you see Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime listed or is it completely missing from your system?

    Best regards

    Lucky
