Dear Bill O'Callaghan
Thank you for sharing your concern in the Q&A forum.
Based on the information provided, I understand that you would like to reduce the width of the center column in Legacy Outlook.
After conducting research and performing tests in my environment, I have confirmed the following:
- Legacy Outlook uses a fixed layout consisting of three sections: Folder Pane, Message List, and Reading Pane.
- The minimum width of the message list column is defined by the legacy UI and cannot be reduced beyond a certain threshold.
To optimize the interface according to your requirements, there are three available options:
- Adjust the Reading Pane via View >> Reading Pane:
- Right: the default layout currently in use.
- Below: moves the Reading Pane below the message list to save horizontal space.
- Hidden: completely hides the Reading Pane for maximum space.
Consider switching to New Outlook: Unlike Legacy Outlook, New Outlook allows you to directly resize columns with greater flexibility.
I hope this information is helpful. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out, I am always ready to support you.
