If you are receiving a message indicating that your device is missing important security and quality updates, and you've already run the troubleshooter and Windows Assistant without resolution, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Windows Update Settings: Ensure that your Windows Update settings are configured to automatically download and install updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates manually.
    2. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter: Sometimes, running the built-in Windows Update troubleshooter can help resolve issues. You can find it in Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update.
    3. Check for Corrupt Files: Use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to scan for and repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command sfc /scannow.
    4. In-Place Upgrade: If the problem persists, consider performing an in-place upgrade of Windows. This process reinstalls Windows without affecting your files and applications, which can resolve underlying issues with the update system.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps work, it may be beneficial to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance, especially since you have signed up for extended support.

Following these steps should help you address the issue with missing security and quality updates on your device.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

May I please know if you have any third-party Antivirus software installed on your computer? If yes, uninstall it and check for Windows updates again.

If you're still having issues, reset the Windows update components by running these commands one by one on a Command Prompt (Admin) window.

    net stop bits
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop cryptsvc

    ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    ren %systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

    net start bits
    net start wuauserv
    net start cryptsvc

Once done, restart your computer and check for updates again. If the error occurs, run the System File Checker utility.

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    sfc /scannow

If you're still having issues, use the Windows 10 MCT tool and check for updates.

Run the Media Creation tool, click Upgrade this PC now, and click Next.
