I was required to switch my comcast.net email to yahoo email. It all worked before with outlook 2021 but after the switch, outlook can't connect or log onto mail.yahoo.com. I entered all the required server setting modification but Outlook still can't log onto mail.yahoo.com . Can anyone help me fix it?

To troubleshoot the issue with Outlook not connecting to mail.yahoo.com after switching from comcast.net, you can try the following steps:

    1. Verify Server Settings: Ensure that you have the correct server settings for Yahoo Mail. The incoming server (IMAP) should be imap.mail.yahoo.com and the outgoing server (SMTP) should be smtp.mail.yahoo.com. The ports are typically 993 for IMAP and 465 or 587 for SMTP.
    2. Check Authentication: Make sure that you are using the correct username and password for your Yahoo account. Also, ensure that the option to use SSL is enabled for both incoming and outgoing servers.
    3. Create a New Outlook Profile: Sometimes, creating a new profile can resolve connectivity issues. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add, and then follow the prompts to set up your Yahoo account again.
    4. Disable Third-Party Add-ins: Start Outlook in safe mode to check if any third-party add-ins are causing the issue. You can do this by running outlook.exe /safe. If Outlook works in safe mode, consider disabling the add-ins one by one to identify the culprit.
    5. Repair Office: If the above steps do not work, you may want to repair your Office installation. You can do this through Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and then choose Repair.

If you continue to experience issues, consider checking your internet connection or contacting Yahoo support for further assistance.

Hi, it sounds like Outlook is having trouble connecting because Yahoo now requires an app-specific password for third-party email clients when two-step verification is enabled.

Even if you entered the correct IMAP and SMTP settings, using your regular Yahoo password won’t work.

The easiest fix is to enable two-step verification in your Yahoo account, then generate an app password under Account Security and use that in Outlook instead of your normal password.

Make sure your server settings are correct: IMAP should be imap.mail.yahoo.com on port 993 with SSL, and SMTP should be smtp.mail.yahoo.com on port 465 or 587 with SSL/TLS.

After updating the password and settings, restart Outlook and test the connection.

Can you confirm if two-step verification is turned on for your Yahoo account, or if you’ve already tried creating an app password?

    Regards,
    Aron
