How to add email address to trustworthy senders to download images and HTML

Good day,

I need advice on how to add a specific email address to the list of trustworthy senders. The main goal is for emails from a specific address to automatically download images and HTML content. I need to do this globally for all users. Is there any way to configure this in Exchange, or deploy it via Intune with a policy?

    To add a specific email address to the list of trustworthy senders in Exchange Online, you can configure the Safe Senders list. This can be done through the Microsoft Defender portal for Office 365, where you can manage trusted senders and domains. However, please note that this setting affects the ability to download images and HTML content in emails from those senders.

    Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Access the Microsoft Defender portal: Navigate to the anti-phishing policies section.
    2. Add trusted senders: Under the policy settings, look for the option to manage trusted senders and domains. You can add the specific email address to this list.
    3. Global deployment: If you want to apply this setting globally for all users, ensure that you configure the policy accordingly and apply it to all relevant user groups.

    For deploying settings via Intune, you typically configure email settings in Intune profiles, but adding specific trusted senders is usually managed directly in Exchange settings rather than through Intune.

    Make sure to review the limits and implications of adding senders to the Safe Senders list, as it may reduce the number of entries you can have in that list.

    Hi @Miticzký Štefan

    Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum
    Based on my research, you can consider two approaches to add safe senders:

    Approach 1: PowerShell (Exchange Online)
    Use the following PowerShell to add a sender/domain to users’ safe sender lists:

    connect-exchangeonline
    $mbxs = get-mailbox -resultsize unlimited -recipienttypedetails usermailbox | select userprincipalname

    $missing_entry = $mbxs | ForEach {get-mailboxjunkemailconfiguration -identity $_.UserPrincipalName} | where-object -filterscript {$_.TrustedSendersAndDomains -notcontains "<email address>"}

    ForEach ($mbx in $missing_entry) { $mbx | set-mailboxjunkemailconfiguration -TrustedRecipientsAndDomains @{Add="<email address>"} -TrustedSendersAndDomains @{Add="<email address>"} }

    Replace <email address or domain> with the specific sender or domain you want to trust.

    Approach 2: Intune (Outlook Safe Senders)

    You can follow these steps to deploy safe senders via Intune: How to configure Intune Outlook Safe Senders

    Step 1: Prepare the SafeSenders.txt File

    Step 2: Package and Deploy with Win32 App in Intune

    Step 3: Configure Outlook Safe Sender with Intune Settings Catalog

    Step 4: Validate and Monitor Intune Outlook Safe Senders
