I have done all my university work on a university OneNote account. This account will be deleted. If I share the notebooks with my personal account, will I still be able to view them when the account gets deleted and if not, what should I do?

If a OneNote notebook is shared with another account and the creator account gets deleted, the ability of the other person to view the notebook depends on the sharing settings and the state of the notebook at the time of deletion. Generally, if the notebook is shared properly with another account, the other user should still have access to it even after the original creator's account is deleted. However, it is important to ensure that the sharing permissions are set correctly before the deletion occurs.

To ensure that you can access your university work after your university account is deleted, it is advisable to:

    1. Share the notebooks with your personal account before the deletion.
    2. Check the sharing settings to confirm that your personal account has the necessary permissions to view and edit the notebooks.
    3. Consider exporting or backing up your notes to another format or location as an additional precaution.

If you have any concerns about the accessibility of your notebooks after the deletion, it may be beneficial to contact your university's IT support for assistance in ensuring your work is preserved.

    Hi @Jasmine,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out to me. I would like to provide you with the following information:

When you share files from your Office 365 account (OneDrive/SharePoint), if your account is closed, any files or items you previously shared will also no longer be accessible. Even if you share a file and later delete or move it, the people you shared it with will not be able to access the content.

In this case, please download the notebook to your computer and then upload it to your personal OneDrive. That way, if your school account is closed, it will not affect your access to the files.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if they work for you. If not, we can work together to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to leave a comment on this post so I can continue supporting you.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
