In settings, accounts, I have chosen to use the facial recognition to sign in. Although the camera works in other apps, the system says it can not turn on camera. I am using the onboard camera. The computer is upto date on Windows and drivers.

    To resolve the issue with Windows Hello facial recognition not turning on the camera, you can follow these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check Virtualization Based Security (VBS): Ensure that VBS is running. Open System Information and check if Virtualization Based Security is listed as Running.
    2. Verify Biometric Isolation Trust-lets: Check if the biometric isolation trust-lets are running. In System Information, under Software Environment > Running Tasks, look for bioiso.exe and ngciso.exe. If they are not running, the system may not meet the requirements for Enhanced Sign-in Security.
    3. Re-enroll Biometric Authentication: Go to Settings > Sign-in Options, remove the existing facial recognition enrollment, and re-enroll your face.
    4. Reinstall Camera Drivers: In Device Manager, expand the Cameras section, right-click on your camera device, and select Uninstall Device. Restart your computer, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
    5. Restart Biometric Service: Remove any PIN from the system, then open a command prompt as administrator and enter net stop wbiosrvc && net start wbiosrvc. Check if the facial recognition feature works afterward.

    If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider filing a feedback item using the Feedback Hub to report the problem.

    Windows Hello Facial Recognition is more secure than most of the facial recognition technologies used on devices these days and it requires a webcam with Infrared capability

    I need to check your system, click your Start Button,, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

    Those 2 processes were NOT running and were marked as "not available". Upon further research, I believe the computer manufacturer has something disabled so they won't run...... :{
