I have two Microsoft accounts. PII ******@gmail.com and PII ******@gmail.com. I need to remove the authenticator from both of my accounts, please. I cannot sign in to programs because the authenticator wants me to verify a code from itself. This is super frustrating.

I appreciate your help

To turn off the authenticator for your Microsoft accounts, you will need to delete the sign-in methods associated with your accounts. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Access Security Settings: Go to your security settings by navigating to https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo.
    2. View Sign-in Methods: You will see a list of your sign-in methods, which may include the authenticator app.
    3. Delete Sign-in Methods: You can delete the authenticator app method from this list. If you have multiple sign-in methods, you may choose to delete the authenticator method specifically.

If you are unable to delete the authenticator app because it is set as a passwordless sign-in method, you may need to set up another two-factor authentication method (like a phone call or SMS) to complete the deletion process.

Keep in mind that if you delete the authenticator app, you will need to re-register for multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your accounts.

If you continue to have trouble, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.

Hi Michael Heffron, I completely understand how frustrating it is to be locked out of your accounts because of the Authenticator especially when you just want to sign in and get things done.

Sign in at account.microsoft.com/security turn off two-step verification remove the Authenticator app from your sign-in methods repeat for your second account and if youre locked out use account.live.com/proofs/manage to verify via email or SMS then update your recovery options so you don’t get stuck again.

Do you still have access to any backup verification methods like email or SMS or is the Authenticator app the only option showing when you try to sign in?

    Best regards

    Lucky
