Why can't Edge just have a "Restore Previous Session" button available when Edge unexpectedly shuts down? Firefox is a breeze with that feature. Edge has the user going through all sorts of time-consuming and confusing gyrations to get to the previous session (a "session" being all the tabs that were open before the site crashed or the computer did an update/restart). Microsoft Edge should be an improvement, not a fail.

To put it another way, Drew1903 is a User name with the # added for that; otherwise, no need or reason for it.

I sort of grasp using TM, although, for my own use, I won't bother. IF an unexpected closure Edge restores all that was open. If I am closing, it asks if close all or not. When rebooting, all tabs/sites there were, still are (again). Same for whatever apps were going.

As for your issue with Automatic Updates... they are not "imposed" nor are they "without your permission". You bought a license for an OS that is SaaS, which includes Auto-updates. Said arrangement carries with it an awareness of what's coming, while you are using the license. And the timing of Restarts is well in the hands of the End-User, allowing time to "be organised" before a reboot.

    Cheers,
    Drew

That's OK Drew, I understand ... MS are always right and it's the customer's fault for not reading an endless licensing agreement to find the single sentence that applies and not being in a position to decline because MS has an effective monopoly. The thing is with a monopoly comes added responsibility that the product performs to an expected standard.

And as for your contention that it "does this" and "does that" well good for you. you lucky man ... I'm pleased for you but you should understand that not everyone is as lucky as you. I'm quite clear in my mind that it DID NOT do as you claim for me. I was not offered an option to restore all.

And Yes, usually I can and do prepare for an update/reboot but I am also given the option to 'delay' the update. This is what I do but on the occasion in question it installed the update regardless my choice for it not to. That is typical of the arrogance of MS and it's not the first time I have been on the receiving end of such arrogance.

Now MS can continue to deny their software is faulty (but if so why the need to issue updates?) but some of their users not only know different but have experienced it's failings.

happened to me again.... a window i had open that i had been using miraculously ceases to exist now. i think it closed when i restarted and updated my laptop. when i click restore window and restore tabs, it opens irrelevant tabs i closed days ago but the actual window i had open filled with tabs for weeks on end for some reason won't open again.
