COPILOT PRO Prompt Character Limit?

Too many tabs, too many windows, CRAZY FIND? - I wound up going to copilot.microsoft.com, in two different browsers. The URL is the same. The account is the same. ....

The one on the LEFT is in PURPLE, and says 4,000 character limit. And the "blurb" by CoPilot says "browser used does not make a difference on character limit".

However, on the right, is in BLUE, and the character limit of the prompt is only 2,000, and its blurb says "The character limit for Copilot Pro is indeed 2000 characters.."

When I first tried copilot, it was 4,000. Soooo... what? the? actual?... fff...reality??

Thanks

Alison

    Dear respected Alison,

    Welcome to our community.

Firstly, I feel sorry for this confusing situation it happened on your side. But community moderators here don't focus on Copilot support so I may not provides you with the appropriate explanation to this.

Here is the related Copilot Community link: Copilot for Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Community Hub

However, I tried to search online and here is what I found:

"in the More Creative and More Precise modes the limit was 4000 characters, while the More Balanced mode was limited to 2000 characters."

Even better, in this month, Microsoft Copilot is rolling out an update to Edge Copilot, that increases the character limit for user prompts. And the 2000 and 4000 from your concerned part will go to 4000 and 8000.

But still, to confirm the detailed information of Microsoft Copilot, we sincerely suggest you post a new thread in the related community to get the appropriate information from the support engineers and experts there.

I appreciate your time and effort on checking these above and thank you for your patience and cooperation.

I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator

"Microsoft Copilot is rolling out an update to Edge Copilot, that increases the character limit for user prompts"

Thank you for the information. Does this include (the)? Copilot part of MS OFFCE apps as well?

Quick check of iPad Word app, when I "asked" copilot from within Word about its word limit, it answered back that there WAS NO limit!

I clearly don't understand why Microsoft has a limit when CHATGPT doesn't. I try to use co-pilot for many things, but most times I end up in ChatGPT because there's no limit that I have seen so far. I can paste whole documents , contracts etc., and get response. This will clearly be a failure for Microsoft when it comes to acquiring new customers.

I agree with you. The lack of this feature renders MS Copilot useless
