Sorry, I'm not seeing any text boxes in your second screen shot. Is this a before shot or after you have checked then unchecked the Text boundaries option? If Text boundaries is already unchecked when you view the options, then you don't need to check or uncheck it.
Help with Unwanted Text Boxes
I am suddently noticing when an outside party sends me a Word document the text is in text boxes. I've tried select all, and remove content control, nothing happens.
I've tried File>Options>Advanced> Show text boundaries (not checked) if I check it and then uncheck all the text is removed.

You can share an actual document with the problem by saving it on OneDrive or DropBox and posting a share link here. (Not SharePoint, though!) Please remove any confidential or proprietary information!

I am seeing a tracked change taking substantial space on the right. https://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/track_changes.htm
Also, if this came in an email as an attachment, save it to your computer from the email. Then open it directly from your hard drive while in Word. See http://www.gmayor.com/outlook_attachments.htm
