Why can't Edge just have a "Restore Previous Session" button available when Edge unexpectedly shuts down? Firefox is a breeze with that feature. Edge has the user going through all sorts of time-consuming and confusing gyrations to get to the previous session (a "session" being all the tabs that were open before the site crashed or the computer did an update/restart). Microsoft Edge should be an improvement, not a fail.

No you can't! Windows 11 recently performed an update without asking permission (MS take note ... you should always ASK for permission and not hide behind a statement advising you will do it ... maybe I didn't get to see the statement as in this case!). As a result of the update Edge was closed with over 100 windows open. I didn't see a notice asking if I wanted to open the tabs probably because I opened Edge from an email link and when I did notice Ctrl-Shift-T only opened closed tabs from the new session. I cannot find the tabs from the previous session anywhere! The tabs were all in named windows ... why doesn't MS make named windows recoverable? Any good software supplier would do so.

So how do I now recover all that lost work? It's enough to make someone switch to a more reliable supplier who respects the value of a user's time.

EDIT: it's significant that nobody from MS is brave enough to respond to these declarations of "it does not work"!

I'm sorry andrea turner1 but not in this case which is the reason for this thread. This is the flaw in Microsoft's facility ... there is no reliable fall back if the tabs are not reinstated. Why does Microsoft continue with it's denial that this is a real problem when it happens. I cannot rely on a facility that does not do as is claimed when called upon!

Upon return Edge shows a message @ the top-right saying, "Closed unexpectedly" together with a Restore button.

    Cheers,
